Client: City of Kawartha Lakes
Consultant: AMR Engineering

Project Description:

A heritage site for the City of Lindsay, the Olde Gaol Museum was an operational jail for most of it’s history. The exterior walls of the jail were planned to be taken down and B.E. Construction completed this task. Given the importance of this site there were many steps taken during this demolition. The protection of the existing museum and all of the surrounding elements. A significant historic Sally Port Gate was left erect during the demolition process.

Remarks:

Considering the importance and meticulous nature of this work, B.E. Construction worked closely with an archeology team to study the area prior to any excavation.

These walls were heavily re-enforced and structurally sound, given the protection of surrounding elements involved, solutions were provided in demolishing these structures as safely as possible. In many times this meant more man power and hand work.

This project was under the microscope of the town population and it was imperative to provide a clean work environment and B.E. Construction kept an open line of communication with all parties involved on a daily basis
